What we believe

Sarah Fire

The owner and founder of the Schoolhouse of Rock, Sarah studied Child Psychology at Columbia University in NYC. She was the lead singer, guitarist, keyboardist and songwriter for the band "Planet Janet" (Winner of NJ's Top Female Vocalist in 2000 and Top Young Band in 2001.) Sarah Fire has taught private music lessons for 10 years and she opened the Schoolhouse of ROCK in late 2006 after moving to Tucson from NJ the year before. Trained as a classical pianist under a Julliard graduate for 10 years and trained as a classical vocalist under Dita Delman, the director of the New Jersey State Repertory Opera, Sarah then learned to play the guitar and drums without instruction. Because of her diverse musical background Sarah effectively combines the discipline of classical music with the fun and improvisational nature of modern rock music. At the Schoolhouse of Rock students actually look forward to their lessons and are consistently challenged while also having a fantastic time learning. Perfect for children who might need a little extra motivation so they can be EXCITED about learning and ideal for adults who need their lessons to be tailored specifically to their learning style and individual goals.

Cullen Chadwick

Cullen Chadwick started composing and recording his own music at 12 years old. He has since mastered the drums, digital music production, sound engineering, songwriting, and the bass. He studied music theory at Rutgers University, but has learned far beyond that through his own independent studies: acoustophysics, construction, graphic design and several other academic fields. He has been in several bands throughout his musical career, among them Basner, a three-piece indie rock group that won $2,000 and beat out hundreds of bands in the Battle of the Bands at the Saint in Asbury Park, NJ, and Under Your Bed, a hard rock group that worked with Grammy award winner Phil Nicolo.

Phil Dunitz

Phil Dunitz is our newest member of the Schoolhouse of Rock team. Starting as an intern, Phil worked his way into the Schoolhouse of Rock family and is now teaching guitar lessons. Growing up in Tulsa, Oklahoma he picked up the guitar at 13 and has since taught himself to play the bass and piano. Phil made his way to the west and is currently studying Music at the University of Arizona.
